Ducati set their sights on the manufacturers' title this year after an impressive MotoGP debut in 2003. But although they finished third in the manufacturers' championship, their competitiveness slipped and Ducati struggled to stay on the pace. Loris Capirossi was unable to repeat the victory he scored in 2003 as Valentino Rossi's move to Yamaha moved another team ahead of Ducati. There was the odd good showing, but Ducati need to work hard this winter.
