Portadown's Adam Carroll won the A1 GP series for Ireland in 2009 |
Adam Carroll from Portadown is being linked with a Formula 1 drive for this season with the Campos Meta team. He is understood to be the choice of A1 GP Series boss Tony Teixeira, who is reported to be on the verge of buying into the cash-strapped Campos team. Carroll won the A1 series last year but it has since gone into liquidation. The Northern Ireland driver was previously linked to the Manor Virgin team for 2010 but the two seats went to Timo Glock and Lucas di Grassi. Campos is one of four new teams set to race in the 2010 F1 Championship. It is the first Spanish F1 team, with Bruno Senna, nephew of the late triple world champion Ayrton, already unveiled as one of the drivers. Carroll's manager Neil Lynas says he has yet to receive an official approach from the Campos Meta team.
