Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz says he may bring in ex-BMW motorsport boss Gerhard Berger to help his new team make its debut next season. Tony Purnell, team boss for Jaguar before its sale, will take charge of the new look Red Bull.
But Mateschitz did not rule out also bringing aboard Berger, a friend who won 10 Grands Prix in a 13-year career.
"Gerhard is an expert and his advice would certainly be useful to us," said Mateschitz, a fellow Austrian.
The 59-year-old billionaire, one of the world's richest people estimated to be worth $1.4bn, said his team was hoping to clinch a title within the next three to five seasons.
But he said key positions on the team would "need reconsideration".
He said driver Christian Klien, who Red Bull sponsored to drive for Jaguar last season, would have to test drive in November like all other potential candidates.
"But a second year in the sport after his rookie season in 2004 would make sense," he said.
Other candidates are reigning Formula 3000 champion Vitantonio Liuzzi of Italy and American driver Scott Speed.
"Vitantonio is certainly a candidate for a hot seat next year, but Scott is still too inexperienced for a whole season. A test driver's spot is possible, though," Mateschitz said.
German Nick Heidfeld and Britain's Anthony Davidson, who impressed as BAR's test driver last season, are also thought to be in the running.
But there could also be a place at the team for David Coulthard, who is still looking for a drive after leaving McLaren.
The Scot had been negotiating with Jaguar before Ford announced in September that it was quitting the sport and selling the team.
