Jaguar's ill-fated flirtation with Formula One came to a dismal end when their drivers collided with each other in the Brazilian Grand Prix. Team leader Mark Webber was taken out as he tried to pass Christian Klien on lap 24 at Interlagos, the final race before owner Ford closes the team down.
Webber, who is moving to Williams for 2005, said: "Unfortunately we tangled as he appeared not to see me coming.
"It was a sad end to what should have been a more rewarding race."
Webber was forced out of the race after the incident, while Klien limped on to finish 14th.
Team boss Tony Purnell is trying to find a buyer for the F1 outfit, but no deal has yet been made and their future remains uncertain. Speaking after the race on Sunday, Purnell said: "The men and women of Jaguar Racing have achieved more in the last two years than we thought possible.
"And they give every other team a run for their money when it comes to commitment and loyalty.
"Jaguar has a magnificent motorsport heritage and one that deserves to live on as there is no doubt that racing and winning are, and should be, synonymous with Jaguar."
