Britain's Jenson Button blamed a gust of wind for blowing his chances of pole position at the Spanish Grand Prix. The BAR driver ran wide at the 125mph Campsa corner and qualified 14th. Team-mate Takuma Sato managed third.
Button said: "Conditions changed a lot from pre-qualifying and there was a lot more wind, which is one of the reasons I ended up having an excursion.
"I went wide coming around turn seven, went off on to the grass and had to lift off, which was disappointing."
Michael Schumacher was fastest in qualifying more than 0.6secs ahead of Juan Pablo Montoya's Williams.
And the Ferrari's pace suggested Button would not have been able to repeat his Button would probably not have been able to repeat the pole position he grabbed at the last race.
Sato's fine effort for a place on the second row was still more than 0.7secs down on Schumacher's time.
