Woodward was appointed Eagles captain last season |
Eastbourne Eagles captain Cameron Woodward says other teams should not under-estimate them in the Elite League play-offs. The Sussex side qualified for the semi-finals for the first time since 2005 after two wins at the weekend. The 26-year-old told BBC Sussex: "We've been building for it the whole season. "I don't know if people rate us or not. But I think we've showed by beating Wolverhampton and Coventry on Saturday that they should." Meanwhile Eagles team manager Trevor Geer says using their regular riders thorughout the season has been key to their success. "If riders are struggling, most teams get rid and find someone else," Geer said. "We prefer to persevere with them, try to find out what's wrong, and help them. "People told us we should get rid of Timo Lahti, but he's come good now. I believe it will reap benefits in the play-offs."
