Coventry Bees beat Eastbourne Eagles in rain at Brandon
Bees skipper Kennett was unbeaten in his four heats at Brandon
Coventry Bees picked up all the points as they beat Eastbourne Eagles 46-39 at a rain-soaked Brandon on Monday.
The weather meant the Elite League meeting was curtailed before heat 15, leaving the home side with a seven-point cushion.
Bees boss Alun Rossiter told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "The points really didn't justify what we did. We were a bit unlucky in races.
"Everybody was chipping away and that's what we've been missing."
Coventry captain Eddie Kennett weighed in with a 12-point maximum, as the home side had to cope without number one Emil Sayfutdinov.
Peter Kildemand was paid 10 on his debut at reserve to help move Bees up to fifth in the league and the young Danish rider did exactly what Rossiter had hoped.
"I was certainly very pleased with the debut of Peter," Rossiter added.
"He said he'd been here once but certainly didn't disgrace himself and looked very, very good.
"I think that's what we've been lacking and hopefully now we can push on and start moving up the table."
