Plater is a former World Endurance Championship runner-up |
Louth's Honda TT Legends team's hopes of a strong finish in the eight-hour World Endurance Championship race at Albacete were ended by a late crash. The team retired from fourth place when John McGuinness crashed 50 minutes from the end of the race. His team-mate Steve Plater said: "We're disappointed, we were setting a good pace but that's endurance racing. "This year is a big learning curve for the team and we've learned a huge amount again this meeting." McGuinness was uninjured in the crash, which happened on his final scheduled lap of the Spanish circuit before handing over to Plater for the final stint of the race, which was eventually won by the BMW France team.
