Speedway: Great Britain to face world champs at Lynn
Chris Harris celebrates last year's first round win for Britain
Great Britain will have to contend with title holders Poland in the first round of this year's Speedway World Cup.
The event, to be held at King's Lynns' Norfolk Arena on 11 July, will see GB, Poland, Russia and a fourth qualifier battle it out for a place in the final.
Last year Britain recorded a memorable victory at the home of the King's Lynn Stars to book a final slot.
"That was one of the most memorable nights of speedway at King's Lynn," said Stars co-promoter Buster Chapman.
"And we hope to repeat it. The fans were incredible and it makes you proud to be British."
Current Stars boss Rob Lyon led GB to victory over Australia, Sweden and Finland in 2010, before suffering disappointment in the final in Denmark.
But the British Speedway Promoters' Association will need to find a new team manager after Lyon's departure last week.
Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Latvia are set to race in a qualifier to decide who the fourth nation at the Norfolk arena will be.
