Speedway dispute frustrates Coventry Bees co-promoter

Alun Rossiter wants Coventry to defend their Elite League title in 2011

Coventry Bees co-promoter Alun Rossiter is frustrated with the slow progress of a possible resolution to their dispute with Speedway's governing body.

Bees are at odds with the British Speedway Promoters' Association over rule changes for 2011 and as it stands will not be racing in the Elite League.

Rossiter told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "It's dragging on badly now and nobody knows where they're at.

"Certain people are dragging their heels and it's not good for anybody."

The Bees and Peterborough Panthers have been in an ongoing dispute with the BSPA since walking out of November's annual general meeting and have so far been omitted from the upcoming top flight campaign.

With the threat of legal action still a possibility, supporters remain optimistic that the Bees will be re-instated, along with the Panthers, in time to begin the defence of their title next month.

Rossiter is unaware of any deadline being set to resolve the current dispute despite the possibility of a resolution earlier this week.

"Monday was looking optimistic then all of a sudden it was kicked into touch for some reason," he added.

"It seems strange to me with speedway struggling the way it is that they can afford to get rid of the two most stable clubs in the league, yet there are others in the league that are very, very fragile.

"The fans are the ones losing out on this."
