An increased prize fund of almost £8,500 will be available for this year's Irish 250cc championship, with the winner collecting around £2,200.

The Two Stroke Racing Supporters Club says that a new sponsor, who wishes to remain anonymous, has been found to back the North-South championship.

The series will consist of 14 Irish rounds, plus two scoring rounds at the Southern 100 Races in the Isle of Man.

The championship winner will receive the Gary Dynes Memorial Cup.

The championship will kick off at Cookstown, moving to Tandragee, and will also include rounds at Bush, Athea, Skerries, Kells, Walderstown, Faugheen, Armoy, Mid Antrim, Ulster Grand Prix, Killalane and two point-scoring rounds at the Sunflower race meeting at Bishopscourt.

Prize money will be paid up to 10th place.
