iSport won last year's GP2 Asia manufacturers title |
The principal of GP2 newcomers Team AirAsia has said he hopes there will be a friendly rivalry between the three Norfolk teams on this year's circuit. Riad Asmat's outfit will join iSport and Super Nova in the GP2 roster for the 2011 campaign. And Asmat told BBC Radio Norfolk: "Hopefully we'll duke it out on the track and show how professional we are. "Maybe we'll be able to pinch some pride and points here and there and come back kings of Norfolk." He added: "We've got three Norfolk teams now and we're proud to be part of this ensemble." Team AirAsia, the sister to F1's Team Lotus, will face a tough challenge overcoming their local rivals on the GP2 Asia and full series this season. Fellow Norfolk sides iSport and Supernova finished fifth and ninth respectively in the GP2 Series manufacturers standings last year, while iSport came out on top in the GP2 Asia competition.
