Chris Holder's impressive performance in heat 15 kept Poole Pirates' hopes of winning the Knockout Cup alive as they lost the first leg 49-41 at Eastbourne. With the Eagles looking to secure a double-figure advantage, Holder superbly passed Matej Zagar to cut the deficit to eight points. Poole promoter Matt Ford said: "That pass by Chris was something special, and I think that shows his pedigree." The return leg is being held at Wimbourne Road on Wednesday. Ford added: "We had our backs to the wall going into that final heat. "When we lost the toss for gate positions you couldn't help think that they could easily have been bringing a 10-plus lead with them and we know from experience how difficult it is to eat into such a large advantage."
