Tincknell in action in the Formula Renault Championship

Exeter-based racing driver Harry Tincknell has finished fifth in the 2010 Formula Renault UK Championship.

The 18-year-old ended the season with an impressive fourth-placed finish in race one at the season finale at Brands Hatch in Kent.

Tincknell endured a tricky start in race two and finished 13th, but managed to retain his Championship position.

He said: "It was a good weekend for me and we did very well in qualifying and in race one."

Tincknell added: "But at the start of race two the car did not react as a it did throughout the weekend and I dropped almost to the back of the field.

"Luckily the car started to perform well and I was very quick again."

Tincknell ends the current season with two overall victories and five podium finishes, collecting a total of 375 points in the process.

The 2010 Formula Renault UK Championship was won by Tom Blomqvist.
