Exeter-based racing driver Harry Tincknell has dropped down two places in the Formula Renault UK Championship after a tough weekend in Scotland.

The 18-year-old is now fifth in the drivers standings after Rounds 15 and 16 at the Knockhill racetrack.

Round 15 saw Tincknell start ninth on the grid from where he started well and managed to finish fourth.

In Round 16 the Exeter driver was unable to repeat the feat, and only climbed two places to finish seventh.

Tincknell is now on 325 championship points, 65 behind the leader, Tama's Pa'l Kiss, with four races of the season remaining.

He said: "I had some problems with the set-up of the car and was struggling under braking but we managed to sort this for the final race.

"It's a shame thing weren't quite right for the beginning, but I think what we've found on the car will really help us in the last rounds."

The Formula Renault UK Championship continues at Silverstone on 18-19 September, with the final rounds held at Brands Hatch in Kent on 9-10 October.
