Oxford-born driver Jason Plato has won the British Touring Car Championship after notching two victories in the final round at Brands Hatch on Sunday. "I'm really chuffed to have won it," said Plato, who equalled Andy Rouse's record of 60 race wins in securing his second championship crown. "I have say a big thanks to my team as my car was really something special and has been since the middle of the year." He added: "As each race went on we kept on squeezing every last bit out of it." Plato dominated the weekend in his Silverline Chevrolet Cruze, with pole position on Saturday and lights-to-flag victories in Sunday's first two races. Plato said: "Everyone in my team, Chevrolet and RML who prepare the car, are the best in the business and also a great family of people so it's a very joyous experience winning it for them. "Sixty wins sounds nice, but not as nice as 61."
