Peterborough Panthers assistant boss Wayne Swales was left fuming with his side after Monday's Elite League home defeat by Eastbourne. The 47-43 loss, which knocks their play-off hopes, was the club's first home defeat of the season. Swales told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I don't think disappointing sums it up - appalling, just not good enough. "In some ways I'd like to calm down and think about it, but I think everybody here can tell that wasn't acceptable." He added: "I don't think the wheels have come off but it's loosened them up a bit." | Maybe that's the kick up the backside we needed Peterborough Panthers assistant boss Wayne Swales |
Panthers have yet to seal their play-off position - they are currently six points above above fifth-placed Coventry - and head to table-toppers Poole on Wednesday. "I think we're good for the play-offs and maybe that's the kick up the backside we needed to make ourselves aware we need to be back on tip-top form," Swales continued. "It's not easy to go somewhere like Poole when you're expecting a performance, but you can only ride what's out in front of you."
