Swales' men are sitting fourth in the Elite League |
Peterborough Panthers boss Trevor Swales says the Ipswich Witches are not the Elite League whipping boys ahead of their meeting Thursday night. The Panthers are in hot pursuit of a play-off place while the Witches are rock bottom of the table, but Swales insists looks can be deceiving. He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I don't think Ipswich are as poor as their position leads you to believe. "They're a different team to the one that got to the bottom of the league." The Suffolk side have struggled to get to grips with the changes made to their Foxhall Stadium circuit ahead of the 2010 campaign but Swales reckons they are showing signs of improvement. "They've got guys who are coming to terms with the new shape of their track," he said. | When we're good we're good, but when we're bad we're awful Peterborough Panthers boss Trevor Swales |
"They've got riders that can fly around there on their night, Danny King, Scott Nicholls, David Stachyra to name three." Wins in their four remaining home meetings would seal a top four place for the Panthers but, with the two-legged play-offs looming, Swales wants better performances from his side on the road. "It's fair to say we have to get something from one, maybe two of the away meetings," he added. "When we're good we're good, but when we're bad we're awful. "We've got to try and turn that around and make sure we're good all the time, especially away from home."
