Dudley Heathens skipper Lee Smart will open proceedings when the popular Golden Hammer meeting is restored on Tuesday, 13 July.

The reborn Heathens have brought back the individual event after being "snowed under by requests".

Smart will ride in heat one alongside club colleague Jake Anderson, young Australian star Tyson Nelson and Glasgow's teenager Nick Morris.

The Hammer is taking place at Wolverhampton's Monmore Green track.

"It's an exciting field packed with young riders desperate to make their mark," said Heathens chairman Nigel Pearson.

"And the fans are excited by this meeting - as soon as we announced the re-launch of the Heathens after a 14-year absence we were snowed under by requests for the Golden Hammer."
