Michael Laverty has dropped a place to fourth in the BSB standings

Toomebridge rider Michael Laverty finished fourth in Sunday's weather-hit British Superbike Championship round at Knockhill in Scotland.

Michael Rutter won the race while Alastair Seeley from Carrickfergus was fifth, followed by Laverty's brother John in sixth.

The scheduled second race was abandoned after torrential rain and high winds.

Marty Nutt had a 13th place finish in the Supersport race but Paul Jordan was forced to retire.

The poor weather led to two restarts in the Superbike race, the second leaving Michael Laverty starting from the fifth row.

But the Relentless Suzuki rider fought his way through the field and held off a challenge from Seeley to finish just outside the podium places.

Ryuichi Kiyonari was second with series leader Josh Brookes in third.
