Ben Barker impressed against Robins with eight points, paid 10 |
Coventry Bees dropped two points as they were held to a 45-45 draw by Swindon Robins at Brandon on Monday. Bees had held eight and six-point leads as they looked to control the meeting and stretch their winning run to five. But the home side nearly lost all the points, needing skipper Chris Harris to split Leigh Adams (12) and Simon Stead (paid 10) in the final heat. Robins pick up two Elite League points while Bees get one, with Adams and Harris top-scoring with 12 apiece. Ben Barker, who weighed in with a paid 10 for Coventry, told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "We didn't expect that. | What a wonderful end to a wonderful month. I now firmly believe that we have turned a corner Swindon team manager Ronnie Russell |
"We got off to a flying start and it was a bit of a disappointment that we let that eight-point lead slip." The Robins won three of their five meetings in June and lost just once. And team manager Ronnie Russell told BBC Wiltshire: "What a wonderful end to a wonderful month. I now firmly believe that we have turned a corner. "We were a little bit unlucky right at the end. "But, at the end of the day, we've come away with two points while Coventry only got one so that's good." Mads Korneliussen and Thomas H Jonasson both played their part for the Robins with scores of paid seven. Cory Gathercole also scored an impressive seven. Greg Zengota managed five while Morten Risager could only manage a single point.
