Jelley is a former Formula Three racing driver

Leicester driver Stephen Jelley has moved up to fourth place in the Porsche Carrera Cup.

Jelley finished second and fourth in his two races at the Croft circuit on Sunday afternoon.

He told BBC Radio Leicester: "It's a good points haul and I got a good result under my belt.

"The first race was good with second place, as I managed to get a good start from third. It was a good solid race and the best finish of the year."

Jelley was unable to improve on that, with his fourth-placed finish in the second race.

"The second race, starting fourth on the dirty side of the grid, was going to be difficult," he added.

"My mindset was a bit different, which was to preserve the tyres till the end and to see what happens.

"The tyres were good right at the end and I caught up with third place.

"There was a bit of wheel banging and I got pushed on to the grass a bit, which is fair enough as that's what you want to see.

"I think if I had another lap or so I would have been able to get past."
