Woffinden hurt his wrist in the final heat against Peterborough Panthers |
Wolverhampton captain Tai Woffinden is hopeful his wrist injury will not turn out to be serious. Woffinden collided with Scott Nicholls in the final heat of Wolves' 55-40 home win over Peterborough on Monday. "I don't really know how my crash happened but my wrist hurts quite a bit I can tell you," said Woffinden. "I don't think it's broken, if not then it's probably ligaments, but I've got big meetings coming up and I don't want to be missing them." Wolves remained unbeaten at home this season with solid contributions throughout the team against Peterborough. They were led reliably as always by Freddie Lindgren, who scored 13+1 after having to hurriedly rearrange his travel plans coming back from Poland because of the continuing disruption to air travel caused by the ash cloud from the Icelandic volcano. Matthew Wethers made an impressive debut for Wolves, as replacement for the injured Chris Kerr. The 24-year-old Australian, who captains Edinburgh in the Premier League, scored 6+3. Wolverhampton continue their Elite League programme against Coventry at Brandon on Thursday, live on 95.6FM BBC WM. WOLVERHAMPTON 55: Freddie Lindgren 13+1, Nicolai Klindt 10+1, Ty Proctor 8, Matthew Wethers 6+3, Ludvig Lindgren 6+1, Joe Screen 6, Tai Woffinden 6. PETERBOROUGH 40: Kenneth Bjerre 17, Scott Nicholls 14, Lewis Bridger 4, Krzysztof Buczkowski 3+1, Ales Dryml 2, Craig Cook 0.
