Norfolk-based iSport prepare for new GP2 season

I Sport Team Principal Paul Jackson
Paul Jackson is hoping his drivers can emulate their success in GP2 Asia

GP2 team iSport can be among the title challengers this season, believes team principal Paul Jackson.

Cumbrian Oliver Turvey and Italian Davide Valsecchi are driving for the Norfolk-based team in 2010, starting with the season opener in Barcelona.

Valsecchi has already won this year's Asia series in GP2, which is the official support event to Formula 1.

Jackson told BBC Radio Norfolk: "We've got two very good drivers and hopefully we'll be in there at the end."

Valsecchi won three races in the GP2 Asia series and drove for Italian team Durango in last year's European season.

Turvey, 24, drove in the Renault World Series in 2009 and also won one of the races in GP2 Asia for iSport.

"Davide pretty much dominated the series. Oliver came in without the benefit of the testing that the other guys had had. He also won one of the feature races as well so we're looking at it pretty optimistically," Jackson said.

"It is a bonus for us to be on the GP calendar with all the F1 teams and it gives exposure to the drivers. We get good TV coverage so its a big help."

The other Norfolk-based GP2 team is Super Nova Racing.

"There's always rivalry between all the teams but we've got neighbours over at Griston and we get along fine. We generally try and help each other out," added Jackson.
