James Wright stars as Belle Vue Aces beat Lakeside
Belle Vue Aces continued their excellent start to the season as they overcame Lakeside 57-38 in the Elite League on Monday.
Local rider James Wright, from Stockport, and Dane Hans Andersen starred as the Aces raced into an early lead which they never let slip.
Wright told BBC Radio Manchester: "It's probably the best performance I've ever had as I got my first paid maximum."
Belle Vue move into second after the win and remain unbeaten at home.
Wright added: "We've struggled for the past two or three seasons especially at home and we've just got to prove it away.
"I've always come here and been a spectator as a child and it's weird now being on the bike and doing it, but it's definitely an honour and it's only down the road from me which makes it handy."
Aces team manager Chris Morton said: "Lakeside have often been a problem for Belle Vue here. So to come away with one of our biggest wins is pleasing.
"It's the first time this side have all been together. With all the Icelandic ash, we've not had them fully together. it was great to see them perform so well."
