Ryan Farquhar celebrates after winning the Open race at Cookstown |
Ryan Farquhar continued his domination of local road racing by taking five wins at the Cookstown 100 on Saturday. The Dungannon rider was pushed all the way by Cameron Donald in the feature race before clinching victory by one second - Michael Dunlop was third. Farquhar started with success in the 125/Moto450 event ahead of William Dunlop and added wins in the Open, Supersport and Supertwins races. William Dunlop came in three seconds ahead of brother Michael in the 250s. Australian rider Donald broke the lap record in the feature race before Farquhar set a new best on his way to victory. Farquhar said: "That was the hardest race I've ever had, I was riding the wheels off the bike - I couldn't try any harder." The placings were repeated in the Open race while Farquhar was followed in by Michael Dunlop and William Dunlop in the Supersports. William Dunlop broke a five-year lap record in the 125/Moto450 event, which saw Nigel Moore coming in third.
