Alexander Sims is racing his first season with the ART team |
Alexander Sims says he is not getting carried away despite an impressive start to the Formula Three Euro Series season. The 22-year-old from Wansford followed up a third place finish in race one at the Paul Ricard circuit by taking the chequered flag first in race two. He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "It's a long season and there's a lot of points yet to be gained. "But it's very nice to come away from the weekend with two podiums." The ART driver started race two sixth on the grid, but took the lead from Roberto Merhi on lap seven and finished almost 7.5 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. He is taking nothing for granted however and is aware there are plenty of drivers with the quality to challenge him for the title. He said: "The field's hugely competitive, there will be four or five people gunning for the championship. "I've just got to keep focused and keep working towards the end goal." Sims will next be in action in Hockenheim in Germany on the weekend of 23 April.
