Huff failed to score points in the first round of this year's WTCC in Brazil |
Rob Huff admits he does not know what to expect when the World Touring Car Championship heads to Puebla in Mexico. The 29-year-old Chevrolet star came away from Brazil two weeks ago with no points following a throttle failure. He told his personal website: "Puebla has always been a tough track for us. It's not really a track, more like an ice rink. It's a real lottery. "But I'm sure we can make a good step forward, if not for Puebla then for Marrakech," added the Cambridge driver. Huff failed to pick up a single point in the first four races of last season and will be hoping to avoid a repeat this time around. Chevrolet are still in the process of blooding their new Cruze car and, despite a modest performance in Brazil, Huff believes the potential is there. "We learnt more about the new car in Brazil than in all winter testing, simply because the weather had always been bad in testing," he said. | 606: DEBATE |
"While in Curitiba, we had the chance to work and play with the Cruze in proper conditions - hot, not so hot and even wet." Seat dominated in Brazil, taking the top four spots in both races and Huff says their pace was hugely impressive. "Seat were simply unbeatable and I can only hope that part of it goes down to the high altitude, as Curitiba is at almost 1,000 metres above sea level," he said. "Where normally aspirated engines lose about 10% of their power per hundred metres in altitude - simply because the air gets thinner - the effect of that is far less on a turbo."
