Hawkins first rode for the Rebels between 2005 and 2007

Somerset Rebels' Ritchie Hawkins has been named the number eight rider for Ipswich in the Elite League for 2010.

Peterborough-born Hawkins re-joined the Rebels in November 2009 for his second spell with the team.

The 26-year-old former British under-21 champion is on standby for a starting place in the Witches side if one of their team is unavailable.

Somerset's Oak Tree Arena has also been chosen to host the Premier League Pairs competition on Friday 9 July.

It is the fourth year in a row the club will have held the prestigious event, which takes place the day before the showpiece British Grand Prix at Cardiff.
