Lyon's team still have the chance to win the Knockout Cup
King's Lynn Stars missed out on the chance to ride for a place in the Elite League after they were beaten by Edinburgh Monarchs.
Lynn won the second leg of the Premier League play-off final 47-41 but it was not enough to make up the deficit from the first leg in Scotland.
King's Lynn captain Tomas Topinka and young Aussie star Darcy Ward were both missing from the team through injury.
Edinburgh will face Belle Vue for a place in next season's Elite League.
King's Lynn manager Rob Lyon said it was difficult to adapt to a new line-up with two of their top riders out.
"Ty Proctor has ridden well for us and Ulrich Ostergaard came in and did an ok job for us but it's not the same as having your own riders," he told BBC Radio Norfolk.
"We've got away with it for quite a long period of time but tonight it certainly didn't work for us."
King's Lynn still have the chance to add more silverware after winning the Premier League title and the Premier Trophy.
They face Edinburgh again in the Knockout Cup final.
"We just need to make a final push for the Knockout Cup. That will give us the treble, that's the one we really want," said Lyon.
The first leg of the final is on Friday, 23 October in Scotland with the return leg at the Norfolk Arena on Wednesday, 28 October.
