Wycombe motorsport starlet Tom Ingram ended his maiden campaign of car racing in the Ginetta Junior Championship on a high at Brands Hatch. The 16-year-old battled to a 13th and 7th place over the weekend, ensuring a respectable 12th spot in the final championship standings. "If we can get the money we need to come back in 2010, I'll be able to be a lot more aggressive," Ingram said. "I'll really be going all-out to win," the youngster added. Ingram's season has been beset with financial problems, and he was forced to sit out three rounds of racing through lack of funding. "We knew the weekend was going to be all about trying to regain some ground after having missed a few rounds," reflected the former British Karting Champion. "We were just aiming to score points and move up the table a bit if we could. "What I desperately needed was track time to get out there and learn which way the track went to be honest - and not being able to do that was frustrating. "Some of the other drivers had been there testing the previous week but we couldn't afford to do that, so that definitely put us at a disadvantage. We weren't able to get enough laps under our belt to sufficiently refine the set-up. "Since the accidents at Oulton Park and Croft in the summer I've had to be really careful to avoid any more damage - it's always been in the back of my mind that I can't afford to chuck it off the track."
