Robins qualify for play-off final

Swindon beat Coventry 47-43 at the Abbey Stadium on Monday to qualify for the Elite League play-off final.

Matej Zagar, Leigh Adams and Simon Stead all reached double figures giving the Robins a 12-point aggregate win.

Swindon will now face Wolverhampton in the two-legged final and Stead, who dropped just one point, told BBC Wiltshire they deserve to be there.

"We probably made hard work of it but we knew Coventry were going to bring it but we did the job over two legs."

Stead added: "Now we've really got to up our game and make sure we're firing on all cylinders for the final."

Zagar has made a real difference to the Robins since replacing Troy Batchelor half way through the season, and he thinks the team will improve in time for the final.

"It was a bit harder than we expected to be honest, we knew they were going to give 110%," said Zagar.

"We need to improve a little bit for the final so everybody needs to improve their own form."

Manager Alun Rossiter said he was much more confident than his riders that Swindon would make it through to the final.

"The hard work was done at Coventry and it was never in doubt," he said.

Wolverhampton booked their place in the final with a convincing 22-point aggregate victory over Lakeside, a result which Rossiter admits could make them favourites to win the title.

"Some people will probably put Wolverhampton as favourites at the moment after the way they turned over Lakeside, but I don't think it's going to be as easy as that for them.

"It's going to be two cracking meetings, but we've certainly got to sort our gating out," said Rossiter.
