 Colin Turkington leads the British Touring Car Championship |
Portadown driver Colin Turkington has been awarded a race victory from Sunday's BTCC round at Snetterton after James Nash was stripped of the win. Nash was punished after a tangle with Robert Collard, whose BMW was damaged as it span across the track. Collard's car and was then hit by Stephen Jelley's Team RAC BMW, forcing both drivers out of the race. Turkington is 17 points clear at the top of the series standings following the decision of BTTC officials. Reigning champion Fabrizio Giovanardi won the opening two races with Turkington coming in fifth and second. Turkington was second in the final race but he has now been promoted after Nash's punishment.
