 Harris is a two-time British champion |
Great Britain narrowly failed in their bid to reach speedway's World Cup final after finishing third in the race-off. Australia and Sweden took the two qualification places, with the Swedes finishing only four points better off than Britain in the event in Poland. Coventry Bees skipper Chris Harris once again led the GB side with Lee Richardson top-scoring with 17 points. The Australians and the Swedes will now take on Poland and Russia in Saturday's final, also at the Leszno circuit. | Final score Australia 51 Sweden 39 Great Britain 35 Denmark 34 |
Great Britain manager Rob Lyon drafted in Richardson in place of Bees' Edward Kennett who only managed three points in Monday's event in Peterborough. Former Coventry rider Andreas Jonsson's performance in the penultimate heat was the Brits' undoing as he won and claimed double points in the process.
