Sidecar racer dies in S100 crash

Philip Dongworth finished second in this year's TT races

Experienced sidecar racer Philip Dongworth has died after a crash during the Southern 100 qualifying session on the Billown Circuit on the Isle of Man.

Mr Dongworth, 43, from Worcester, was airlifted to Noble's Hospital with serious injuries after the crash at Ballanorris on Tuesday.

A police spokesman said: "A full investigation into the incident is under way."

His passenger, Stu Castles, remains in hospital with serious injuries.

The race organisers have expressed their deepest sympathy to Mr Dongworth's wife, family and friends.

He finished second in the sidecar competition during this year's TT races, alongside his partner Gary Partridge.
