Robins lose close tie at Panthers

Swindon Robins manager Alun Rossiter hailed a great team performance despite their 46-44 defeat at Peterborough.

Swindon pick up one Elite League point for their efforts, with Leigh Adams, Cory Gathercole and new signing Matej Zagar all scoring well.

Rossiter told BBC Wiltshire he was happy enough even though they lost: "All in all it was a good point.

"It's a hard place to come and there were a lot of bonuses tonight, it was a great performance."

Zagar scored a paid seven points on his Robins debut, having only signed for the club last Friday.

"The preparations couldn't be ideal because I got a phone call on Friday and I had no kit, nothing was ready, but I've done it and I've done my best.

"When I get my real equipment here I'm sure it's going to be better," Zagar added.

There was a lot of stress on the phone to organise everything, but I hope it's going to be worth it

Swindon needed a new rider after Troy Batchelor broke his wrist last week, and had to move quickly before the new set of averages were published, as that would reduce the number of points they had to play with.

But Zagar says he took a bit of persuading to come back to speedway in England.

"First of all it was an instant no, but then I thought about what the team was going through.

"It was tough for everybody and there was a lot of stress on the phone to organise everything, but I hope it's going to be worth it.

"Swindon has always been one of my favourite tracks in England," said Zagar.
