Skipper Lee Complin returned to form with 12 points against Newport |
Stoke Potters ended their Premier Trophy campaign by completing their first double of the group stage against Newport Wasps on Saturday. Stoke knew before the meeting that they would not be able to qualify for the semi-finals but put on a good show to win 51-42 at Loomer Road. In greasy conditions, Jason Bunyan and captain Lee Complin looked assured and ended the meeting with 12 points each. The Potters return to Premier League action against Newcastle on 23 May. After a mixed start to the season, Complin was pleased to put in a good performance against Newport. "It's good to find my form again and to get amongst the points. I felt a bit more relaxed tonight and that allowed me to concentrate on my racing," said Complin. Mark Burrows took three points in his first ride of the season for Stoke in place of Glen Phillips, who had been released earlier in the week after a string of poor performances.
