Harvey will compete in the premier KF1 class of Karting next season |
Lincolnshire kart racer Jack Harvey claimed an impressive fifth place in the Asia-Pacific KF1 Championship meeting in Macau. The reigning KF2 champion qualified in fourth place for the grand final on his international debut in the top class. He was set for a top-three finish until a radiator problem caused him to lose power, dropping him to fifth. Harvey said: "We've got to work harder at this level, but I'm really looking forward to the 2009 season now." But the 15-year-old was pleased with his weekend, especially against top-class opposition. He said: "I came out here with the intention of going for a podium finish and showing my pace against some of the best KF1 racers in the world. "I wanted people to take notice of me and the fact that I'm ready to race at the highest level in karting and not settle for anything less than top results, and I think I've achieved that this weekend."
