Harvey moved up to KF2 after winning the European KF3 title in 2007 |
Lincolnshire kart racer Jack Harvey finished as runner-up in the KF2 class of the Winning Series of Karting after Sunday's final round at Zuera, Spain. A point off the series lead going into the meeting, Harvey finished just outside the points in the pre-final. He came fourth in the grand final as Flavio Camponeschi clinched the title. Harvey admitted: "I'm disappointed not to have won, especially after being so close, but I'm really pleased with my first year in KF2." The 15-year-old was equally delighted with his Birel motorsport team. He said: "We've been competitive and fast at every meeting and have been in contention for almost every title we've entered, which I think has surprised a few people in the senior class. "I've been competing against people at the highest level all season, some of who are older and have maybe two or three years in the category behind them. "If you had said to me at the start of the season I would win the Asia-Pacific title and finish runner-up in the WSK championship I'd have been really pleased."
