This was Robert Lawson's first season in the championship |
Richmond driver Robert Lawson has withdrawn his appeal against the 25-point deduction which cost him the Seat Cupra Championship. Lawson's team was penalised for an off-set camber on a wheel which was caused by an impact with a kerb on the track. He has decided to settle for second place rather than see the appeal through to a conclusion. Lawson said: "The decision is based purely on the commercial outcome which will help my financial security." Seat Sport UK announced it was pulling out of British motorsport so Lawson took the decision to help him prepare for 2009. He added: "It has been a fantastic year in which I've scored more race points and podium finishes than any other driver in the Championship." Lawson finished as runner-up to reigning champion Jonathan Adam.
