Wolverhampton's Dean Smith raced to a season's-best sixth place in Estoril in round 12 of the Eurocup Formula Renault Championship on Sunday.

Smith, 20, started eighth on the grid but instantly climbed two places to sixth and remained there for the duration of the race.

"I made a nice start and although I did get hit twice, I was ok," Smith said.

"We visit Catalunya next and I know that's a track which I really do enjoy," he added.

The final event of the seasons, rounds 13 and 14, will take place in Barcelona over the weekend of 18-19 October.
