Smith had mixed fortunes at Le Mans (Roelof Oosterhuis/Insight F1 Motorsport Report)

Wolverhampton's Dean Smith secured his second top ten result of the 2008 Eurocup Formula Renault season at the Le Mans circuit in France last weekend.

Smith, 20, was involved in a crash at the first chicane in round nine on Saturday but recovered to finish 10th on Sunday.

But there was controversy in that race when several cars cut the chicane to push Smith down three places to 11th.

Smith said: "Sunday's race was tricky at first, but then I found my rhythm."

"We didn't have a great set up but it wasn't too bad. It's just a shame we were taken out of Saturday's race, my luck is just terrible," he added.

There is now a break from competitive action for Smith with rounds 11 and 12 of the Eurocup Formula Renault season taking place at Estoril in Portugal on 27 and 28 September.
