Guernsey's Andy Priaulx exceeded his own expectations by scoring eight points and having another podium finish in round three of the WTCC in Valencia. The BMW Team driver is still fifth in the Championship after coming seventh in race one and third in race two. For the first time this season, a Seat did not win a race. Chevrolet's Rob Huff took race one, while team-mate Alain Menu took race two, despite Priaulx starting from second on the grid. Race one was a baptism of fire with Priaulx constantly in the middle of the action. Fellow Briton Huff was able to drive away to a fairly easy win against the Seat of Gabriele Tarquini. Priaulx got off to a good start in race two but lost the lead to Swiss star Menu on lap three. Eventually Huff also overtook him on lap 10, but he was able to keep fellow BMW driver Jorg Muller behind him up to the chequered flag. Priaulx is now 14 points behind Championship leader, Seat's Gabriele Tarquini, going into the next round in France at the beginning of June. The FIA's decision to limit the revs of the Seat cars, which had been far faster than the rest of the field, seems to have had some effect. Seats placed second to fourth in race one, with Tarquini five seconds off Huff, while the highest placed Seat in race two was again Tarquini in fifth place, 16 second behind the winner.
