Bourdais, who started fifth on the grid, held off Tracy's challenge |
Defending champion Sebastien Bourdais claimed his second successive win in the Champ Car series with victory at the Grand Prix of Houston on Saturday. The Frenchman overcame a slow early pit stop to record his seventh win in nine starts, finishing ahead of Paul Tracy and pole-sitter Mario Dominguez.
Bourdais, who won the opening race in Long Beach, heads the standings with 68 points, 18 ahead of Mexico's Dominguez.
England's Justin Wilson is third on 48 after taking fifth place in Houston.
"I would've never believed we could have won that race at the start," said Bourdais, who has 18 career victories.
"When races go your way, they go your way. That was the case this weekend."
Canadian Tracy crossed the line 1.238 seconds back while Dominguez, who led for 64 of the first 66 laps, was third.
Bourdais, who is driving for the Newman-Haas Team, is chasing a third straight Champ Car World Series title.
