Bourdais held off Wilson to win the season's opening race |
Frenchman Sebastien Bourdais began his quest for a third straight Champ Car World Series title with victory in the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Bourdais, 27, dominated throughout the weekend, winning both qualifying sessions and leading for 70 of the 74-lap race before his eventual win.
England's Justin Wilson was second, some 14.096 seconds behind, Katherine Legge eighth and Dan Clarke 11th.
The race was shortened by two laps because of the two-hour time limit.
