Clockwatch: Russia 1-1 England
England are denied victory in their opening women's Euro 2001 encounter as Alexandra Svetlitskaia cancels out Angela Banks' opener in Jena, Germany.

Full-time: Russia 1-1 England

89: Russia cause some anxious moments in the Engalnd area before Chamatchkova shoots wide.

80: Barbachina's ball forward looks to be handled but play goes on as the ball falls to Kremleva in space on the edge of the England area.

But England clear the danger.

71: England are under severe pressure form Russia and it takes a last-ditch challenge from Katie Chapman to block a Barbachina shot.

  Substitutions
55: Kremleva ON Letiouchova OFF (Russia)
61: Smith ON Banks OFF (England)
68: Fletcher ON Unitt OFF (England)
82: Easton ON Britton OFF (England)
83: Chmatchkova ON Svetlitskaia OFF (Russia)

68: Substitute - Unitt is replaced by Julie Fletcher.

68: Barbachina is again off-target as she shoots wide with an effort across goal.

63: Barbachina sees a shot saved by keeper Cope as Russia threaten to capitalise on their dominance.

62: Alexandra Svetlitskaia converts some persistent Russian pressure by equalising.

She cushioned a long ball forward with a header and then clinically scored with a shot to the far post. (Russia 1-1 England)

61: Substitute - Kelly Smith comes on for Banks.

60: Komarova sends a shot from the edge of the England area narrowly wide.

56: The substitute almost has an immediate goalscoring impact but her 20-yard goes wide.

55: Substitution - Kremleva replaces Letiouchova.

53: Karasseva is booked after pulling back Spacey.

51: Grigorieva's curling 22-yard shot is well directed but not strong enough to trouble keeper Cope.

48: England's Tara Proctor receives treatment after a strong challenge.

Half-time: Russia 0-1 England

45: Banks gives England the lead immediately after Russia threaten at the other end.

Burke provides the low cross and Banks makes up for her earlier miss by sliding in the ball from close range. (Russia 0-1 England)

44: Spacey delivers an inswinging free-kick into the Russian area which falls to Karen Burke, whose snapshot goes narrowly wide.

38: The impressive Barbachina misses a glorious chance for Russia.

She is put clean through on goal after a long ball forward is chested into her path but Barbachina slices her shot into the side-netting from close range.

34: Letiouchova is given the space to get in a header from six yards but cannot get the contact to trouble goalkeeper Pauline Cope.

30: Letiouchova is struck by a shot from a Russian team-mate. She fortunately looks to be through on goal before being ruled off-side.

27: A left-foot shot from Sue Smith from the corner of the Russian area goes narrowly high.

24: Komarova produces some excellent work down the Russian right and inside the England area.

But her low pull-back somehow avoids three of her team-mates, allowing England to clear their lines.

19: Barbachina looks to have a opening on goal but is denied by an important tackle by Rachel Unitt.

12: England receive a scare when Grigorieva curls in a free-kick and Barbachina is given the space to glance a header wide of the far post.

6: The lively Banks is put through on the Russian goal but decides to try and find a team-mate. Instead she only succeeds in finding a Russian defender.

3: Angela Banks plays reverse ball for Marieanne Spacey, who is dispossessed before she can get a shot in from just inside the area.

Russia threaten on the counter attack but are limited to a long range shot which goes comfortably off target.

1 min: Russia kick-off and keep possession well despite being pressured by England.
