Wembley reveal new chairman
Keep out signs warn people not to enter Wembley stadium
WNSL has restructured its board to attract investment
The boss of a multi-national construction company is the new chairman of Wembley National Stadium Limited (WNSL).

The Football Association have announced that Michael Jeffries will chair the board, which has been slimmed down to attract more City funding.

Previous chairman Sir Rodney Walker has stood down and will not keep a place on the board.

All stakeholders agree that this is the right time to make this change
Adam Crozier
Jeffries is chairman of WS Atkins, which owns construction companies in the UK, America and Denmark.

He will chair a board which will include FA chief executive Adam Crozier and Sunderland AFC chairman Bob Murray.

Other members of the board are Clive Sherling, David Ross and Peter Mead.

55-year-old Jeffries has been director of the multi-national construction company since April 2001.

Crozier said: ""I am delighted that we have been able to put together such a strong board with individuals of the highest calibre.

"All stakeholders agree that this is the right time to make this change which has the full support of all the previous directors.

"The FA, and all stakeholders, would wish to express their sincere thanks to all who have served on the board to date and most particularly the outgoing Chairman Sir Rodney Walker.

The changes follow recommendations in an FA report which said Wembley needed to streamline its management structure to make the project more attractive to financial institutions in the City.

Last month, the FA announced that it aimed to proceed with plans for a 90,000-seat stadium costing a total of 715m.
