"Today I had a lot of reports to finalise and just busied myself with administration.

"This hasn't diminished my desire to be a match referee but I'm put forward by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and they have to nominate me to the ICC.

"I do the job to the best of my ability and will continue to do so in the future."

Denness will have to fight to keep his position as the ICC plan to institute a new elite panel of just five Test match referees by next April.

Sanctions for officials

The game's governing body refused to sanction the third Test between the two teams, which began at Centurion Park on Friday.

English umpire George Sharp was withdrawn from the match and an all-South African team of Rudi Koertzen, David Orchard and Brian Jerling took charge.

And the ICC would not rule out further sanctions against the officials for taking part.

"It's fair to say the ICC isn't happy that their officials are involved in the match,'' said spokesman Andrew Baud.

"We recognize that it's a difficult time for the individuals involved and it will be a matter for discussion in the next few weeks."

Tendulkar was given a suspended one-match ban and fined while Denness also sanctioned five other Indian players, including captain Saurav Ganguly, for excessive appealing.
