| Finalists excited about Wimbledon Capriati and Clijsters show support for Wimbledon After three of the four men's semi-finalists at Roland Garros cast doubt on their participation at Wimbledon, there is at last some good news for the All England Club. The women's finalists, Jennifer Capriati and Kim Clijsters, both spoke of how they are looking forward to playing at Wimbledon. "I have had good results there since I was a junior," said Clijsters. "I really enjoy it at Wimbledon and I'm looking forward to it." Capriati will be looking to claim the third leg of the Grand Slam after adding the Roland Garros title to her win at the Australian Open. Kuerten concern She said she believed "anything's possible" when asked of her chances of claiming the Slam. But she added: "I'm not even thinking about Wimbledon yet, it's too soon to think about that." However she did say she preferred faster surfaces adding: "I like playing on grass." The news will come as some relief to the All England Club, who seem certain to be organising a tournament without the world number one after Gustavo Kuerten said he wants to rest after the clay court season. Spaniards Juan Carlos Ferrero and Alex Corretja have both said that they will wait to see how players are seeded before committing themselves to the tournament, as clay courters are usually seeded lower at Wimbledon than their world ranking. |
