Sorenstam aiming for grand slam
Annika Sorenstam
Annika Sorenstam has won 58 LPGA titles
Sweden's Annika Sorenstam is aiming for a clean sweep of major titles in 2005 as she heads into the first, the Kraft Nabisco Championship, on Thursday.

The world number one is fresh from her play-off victory in Phoenix last week, her fourth LPGA title in a row.

"I think it's possible to win all four majors in one year. It's not been done but I set high targets," she said.

Meanwhile, South Korea's Grace Park has declared herself fit to play despite still being troubled by a sore back.

The 26-year-old pulled out of the final round of last week's LPGA tournament in Phoenix with a back muscle injury and had not hit a shot since Saturday before completing Wednesday's 18-hole Pro-Am.

Sorenstam aim last year was to win all four majors - but she only managed one, the LPGA Championship.

"I lost a little momentum when I didn't win Nabisco last year," she said.

"But now I'm ready for a big week. I love the Mission Hills course and just can't wait to get there.

"I feel I'm in the best form ever at this stage of the year and I'm just so excited about the rest of the season."

Sorenstam won a dramatic play-off against Lorena Ochoa at the Safeway International.

The Mexican was four shots up with three to play, but her game collapsed and Sorenstam sneaked the victory on the extra hole.

Karen Stupples was the leading Briton in a share of 15th place on three under and she was also in upbeat mood looking ahead to the first major of the season.

"I really feel I'm beginning to run into form at the right time," she said.

Fifteen-year-old Michelle Wie was one ahead of Stupples in joint 12th and will also be one of the names to watch in Palm Springs.
